Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 24 Police busted an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit on Thursday and seized crackers worth around Rs 10 lakh in Jatmujhada village here.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar said police also seized more than two quintals of firecrackers along with raw materials from the premises.
The SSP said police registered a case against the accused, identified as Samon, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 5/9 of the Explosives Act.
He said police arrested Samon, while a juvenile allegedly involved in the activity has been taken into police protection.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had been manufacturing firecrackers for the upcoming Diwali festival, police said.
