Thane, Sep 25 The bodies of two minor girls were fished out from a lake in Maharashtra’s Thane city on Friday morning, civic officials said.
Personnel from the disaster management cell and the fire brigade retrieved the bodies from Jogila Lake in Thane West around 11 am, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the regional disaster management cell (RDMC).
He said that the victims, Gangi Uday Kami (7) and 4-year-old Asha Ganesh Kami, were residents of Lauristand Chawl on Ambedkar Road.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the Rabodi police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances behind the deaths.
It is still unclear when and how the girls ventured into the lake and drowned, an official said.
