New Delhi, Sep 25 A new police post was inaugurated in Sangam Vihar in north Delhi to strengthen police presence, surveillance and patrolling in the densely populated residential area and ensure quicker response to emergencies, officials said on Friday.
The Police Post Sangam Vihar was formally inaugurated on September 23 in the presence of senior officers and representatives of the local community, they said.
The area and its adjoining localities witness significant movement of residents and daily commuters and require sustained police presence and effective local surveillance.
The new police post will focus on strengthening patrolling and preventive policing, particularly for the prevention and detection of motor vehicle theft, house theft, robbery, snatching and other street crimes, they said.
It will also serve as a local point of contact for residents, facilitating prompt police assistance, reporting of crimes and other safety-related concerns and grievance redressal, with necessary follow-up through the concerned police station, officials said.
The initiative is also aimed at improving coordination between police personnel and residents through regular interaction with resident welfare associations (RWAs) and members of the local community.
