Amaravati, Sep 23 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will jointly lay the foundation stone for the Rs 1 lakh crore Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub at Madanapalle in Annamayya district on October 2.
The central government will provide Rs 40,000 crore under the Purvodaya scheme for the project, while another Rs 60,000 crore is expected through private investment, a press release said on Wednesday.
Purvodaya scheme is meant for the all-round development of some eastern states and Andhra Pradesh.
The horticulture hub will be implemented across the four undivided districts of the Rayalaseema region, as well as Prakasam and Nellore districts.
The project aims to promote horticulture-related activities in drought-prone areas and strengthen the agricultural economy of the region, it said.
While the state government is completing irrigation projects to provide assured water for cultivation, it is simultaneously promoting horticulture to create greater wealth in the region and improve farmers’ incomes, it said.
The foundation stone for the Indian School of Agriculture will also be laid at the Madanapalle programme.
The institution, being established by Reliance, will offer high-standard education and training in agriculture, it said.
Naidu will participate in a series of programmes and tours over five consecutive days from September 29.
He will participate in the Department of Personnel and Training’s Karmayogi Mission programme in Vijayawada on the morning of September 29 and attend the ‘Palle Panduga’ (village festival) programme at Udayagiri in Nellore district in the afternoon.
On September 30, the CM will participate in the distribution of house-site pattas to 24,000 beneficiaries in Vijayawada.
On October 1, he will participate in the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ programme to distribute pensions.
On October 2, after laying the foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub at Madanapalle, the CM will participate in the Swarna Andhra-Swachha Andhra programme.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, he will also participate in the annual Swachha Andhra programme in Vijayawada on October 2.
On October 3, the CM will participate in the Pan-IIT Conference in Vijayawada, the press release added.
