Junagadh, Sep 24 A six-year-old girl was killed by a leopard in Gujarat’s Junagadh district, a forest department official said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday night at the farm of one Thobhanbhai Korat in Dedkiyal village of Mendarda taluka, he said.
“The leopard attacked and killed Prisha Solanki. Her body was found later near the farm. A team reached the spot and placed eight cages in the vicinity to trap the animal. Intensive patrolling and tracking operations are underway,” a release shared by Gir West Divisional Forest Officer Prashant Tomar stated.
The forest department urged residents to remain cautious at night. It said the process of providing compensation has been given priority.
