Gurugram, Sep 23 Gurugram Traffic Police on Wednesday impounded a motorcycle that had 21 pending challans totalling Rs 1.25 lakh in fines during a checking drive at the Maruti Kunj T-point, officials said.
A senior traffic police officer said that as part of a campaign, action is being taken against vehicle owners who failed to clear challans pending for a long period, in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
“The bike was impounded after it was found that 21 challans were pending against its owner, with a total penalty of Rs 1.25 lakh. Most of the challans were issued for riding without a pollution certificate, insurance and other violations. The bike has been parked at the designated impound yard,” the officer said.
A spokesperson for Gurugram Traffic Police appealed to all the motorists to follow traffic rules, keep essential vehicle documents updated, and ensure timely payment of pending challans.
