New Delhi, Sep 25 Police foiled an alleged murder conspiracy involving five men, including a student of IGNOU, who were allegedly working at the behest of wanted criminal Vicky Haddal, currently based in Canada, officials said on Friday.
The police arrested five accused and recovered five weapons, including two foreign-made pistols, and a stolen motorcycle that was allegedly to be used to carry out the murder of a Bawana-based man, who is allegedly a relative of Haddal, they said.
According to police, the relative was targeted over a longstanding family rivalry.
The case came to light after a woman approached police on September 4, alleging that some men were conducting recce in a car to target her husband, police said.
Police said they laid a trap in the Poothkurth area on September 18 and intercepted two men. They were identified as Rinku and Sumit, residents of Panipat, both of whom have previous criminal cases against them.
Investigators found that the accused were allegedly acting on instructions from Ishu, an IGNOU student, who was in touch with Haddal, police said.
The recce was allegedly carried out by Keshav and Sagar, who allegedly communicated with Haddal through voice-over protocol calls, police said.
According to police, Haddal is currently in Canada, while the accused were allegedly planning to rope in more people for the execution of the murder.
The conspiracy was allegedly hatched over a longstanding rivalry and a family dispute in the village. The intended target was reportedly a relative of Haddal, police said.
Further investigation is underway, they added.
