New Delhi, Sep 25 The Congress Seva Dal on Friday said its Legal Cell would provide legal assistance and constitutional awareness to citizens, with its chief organiser Srinivas B V vowing to create a nationwide network of legal professionals committed to justice, transparency and service to citizens.
The Congress Seva Dal Legal Cell held a meeting here at Indira Bhawan, AICC Headquarters, with retired judges, senior advocates, practising lawyers and other members of the legal fraternity from across Delhi in attendance.
At the meeting, the proposed structure and objectives of the Legal Cell were discussed, with emphasis on making legal assistance and constitutional awareness accessible to ordinary citizens, the Seva Dal said in a statement.
It was resolved that the Legal Cell would work in the spirit of the Seva Dal’s longstanding ethos of service, discipline, national commitment and public welfare, and would seek to build a structured legal network extending from the national level to districts and grassroots communities.
A proposed National RTI Cell under Seva Dal would facilitate greater use of the Right to Information (RTI) framework as an instrument of transparency and accountability, while the proposed Cyber Response Team would address emerging legal concerns relating to cyber harassment, online abuse, digital rights and other technology-related issues requiring timely legal assistance, the statement said.
Srinivas B V said the Seva Dal Legal Cell would endeavour to create a nationwide network of legal professionals committed to justice, constitutionalism, transparency and service to citizens.
