Ambala, Sep 25 The Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana police arrested a wanted criminal in coordination with central agencies after securing his deportation from Malaysia, officials said on Friday.
After his deportation, the accused, Ravi (alias ‘Uchani’), a notorious criminal allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and who has been absconding since 2024, was arrested following his arrival in Delhi on Thursday.
Earlier, after receiving information about the accused’s presence abroad, STF Haryana initiated the necessary legal action and coordinated with international agencies to bring him back to India. The STF issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) and a Red Corner Notice against the accused. His passport was also cancelled on May 16, 2026.
Officials said the accused, who hails from Uchani village near Karnal, had travelled from Amritsar, Punjab Airport, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 4, 2024.
Surender Narwal, DIG, STF, told reporters on Friday evening that the accused had been associated with an organised criminal network active in Haryana and involved in criminal activities related to ransom, extortion, organised crime and offences under the Arms Act.
His criminal activities were linked to Karnal and Kurukshetra in Haryana, as well as Rajasthan. Officials said two criminal cases have been registered against the accused in Thanesar, District Kurukshetra, and in Rajasthan.
According to the STF, while in Malaysia, Ravi made extortion calls by threatening people. A demand for Rs 5 crore was made to a businessman in Ranchi. Additionally, the STF revealed that an extortion demand of approximately Rs 3 crore was made to a former MLA and senior politician in Rajasthan, officials said.
The STF said four associates of the accused had already been arrested in connection with a case registered in Kurukshetra, Haryana and weapons were also recovered from them. Ravi was the fifth accused in this case.
Officials said this is the 15th successful deportation carried out by STF Haryana in 2026.
Officials said STF Haryana maintained continuous coordination with Interpol, concerned central agencies and foreign law enforcement agencies to track wanted criminals hiding abroad and facilitate their return to India through due legal process.
