Palghar, Sep 25 Police have registered a death by negligence case against the management of a rubber factory in connection with a wall collapse that claimed the lives of three workers in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, an official said on Friday.
The workers were crushed to death after a wall of an interior storeroom collapsed on them at the Tina Rubber factory in Pali Posheri village of Wada taluka on Thursday morning, district disaster management officer Vivekanand Kadam said.
Emergency responders extricated the workers from the heavy debris and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared all three dead on arrival.
The deceased have been identified as Keshav Gunguna (55), Ranjana Komb (35), and Mira Gawli (60).
According to local authorities, excess overloading in the storeroom had led to the fatal collapse.
A large number of heavy sacks had been stacked directly against the storeroom wall, and the excess pressure ultimately caused it to give way, Apti Gram Panchayat sarpanch Pramod Patil said.
An FIR has been registered under section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the factory management and concerned individuals, said assistant police inspector (API) Nagesh Kadam of the Wada police station.
“No arrests have been made so far, and a thorough probe into the incident is currently underway,” he added.
