New Delhi, Sep 25 A Supreme Court committee and the Gauhati High Court will organise a two-day conference on Saturday and Sunday in Guwahati regarding family court issues, a release said.
It said the apex court’s Committee for Family Court Matters along with the high court is organising an Eastern Zone Regional Conference on ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) versus Adjudication in Family Disputes: Challenges and Way Forward’.
According to the release, Supreme Court judges Justices B V Nagarathna, Ujjal Bhuyan and N V Anjari will be the chief guests.
It said the inaugural session will be presided over by Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
“The two-day conference will bring together judges, judicial officers, senior advocates, mediators and experts for deliberations on key issues concerning justice in family matters, including domestic violence and welfare of senior citizens; marriage, divorce and restitution of conjugal rights; custody of children, shared parenting and visitation rights,” the release said.
It said the crucial matters also include maintenance and alimony, and division and partition of property, besides the issue of strengthening the human resources and infrastructure of family courts.
“Justice N V Anjaria will deliver the keynote address and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan will deliver the valedictory address,” the release said, adding, “The Conference seeks to facilitate exchange of experiences and best practices for effective, sensitive and timely resolution of family disputes, while exploring the appropriate role of ADR alongside adjudication.
