New Delhi, Sep 24 A 55-year-old Delhi Home Guard working as a DTC bus marshal was killed after a motorcycle allegedly hit her, and she subsequently came under a truck while crossing the road on Thursday near the Khajuri Flyover, officials said.
Police received information about the accident around 12:18 pm. A team from the Khajuri Khas police station in northeast Delhi reached the spot and identified the deceased as Sunita Thepliyal, a Bhajanpura resident.
Officials said bystanders had already taken the unconscious woman to JPC Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Police said they found a motorcycle and a truck at the spot.
According to a preliminary enquiry, the woman was crossing the road near the beginning of the Khajuri Flyover when the truck driver braked to avoid hitting her. The truck allegedly obstructed the motorcycle rider’s view, and he subsequently hit the woman. Police said she then fell in front of the truck and sustained fatal injuries.
Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Khajuri Khas police station and arrested the truck driver and motorcycle rider.
Police said further investigation is underway.
