Jaipur, Sep 24 More than 1,800 kg of cannabis estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore, concealed in three trucks, was recovered by police in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district, with seven persons arrested in this connection, officials said on Thursday.
The cannabis was kept in 515 packets concealed in 59 sacks and hidden behind paint buckets in two trucks and among nursery plants in another.
Police said the arrestees had travelled around 1,500 km and crossed three states before reaching Chittorgarh with the consignment.
Acting on information, a police team stopped the trucks on Neemuch-Chittorgarh highway near Ahirpura. The occupants tried to flee but were intercepted by the team.
During searches, police recovered 1,839 kg of cannabis, and impounded the three trucks.
The arrestees have been identified as Jagdish Jat (35), Suresh Regar (26), Banshilal Jat (37), Rajkumar alias Raju Mewara Kalal (40), Saddam Sheikh (39), Rajmal alias Raju Jat (30) and Dinesh Lohar (30).
The accused are being questioned to ascertain the source and intended destination of the consignment and identify others involved in the drug trafficking network, they said.
