Panaji, Sep 24 Axis Bank will engage more than 5,000 customers and recognise around 1,000 entrepreneurs and businesses as part of its nationwide Tourism and Hospitality outreach to mark World Tourism Day, the bank said on Thursday.
As part of the initiative, the private sector lender is hosting a special Tourism and Hospitality edition of its flagship MSME knowledge-sharing platform, Evolve, in Goa.
The event brings together entrepreneurs, industry stakeholders and experts to discuss changing traveller preferences, emerging opportunities and the evolving requirements of businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector, the bank said.
Axis Bank said the initiative builds on its engagement with businesses across the tourism and hospitality value chain through sector-focused financial solutions and industry partnerships. The bank recently partnered with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and launched a dedicated Hotel and Hospitality Programme under its MSME portfolio.
The Evolve platform has, since its inception, engaged more than 10,000 entrepreneurs across over 50 cities, providing a forum for business leaders, industry experts and banking professionals to exchange ideas and best practices.
Vijay Shetty, Group Head-Commercial Banking Group, Axis Bank, said tourism and hospitality businesses create economic activity beyond individual enterprises by supporting jobs, entrepreneurship and local economies.
According to the bank, tourism contributes 5.22 per cent to India’s economy and supports 13.34 per cent of total employment. The sector is undergoing changes driven by rising domestic travel, improved connectivity and growing demand for wellness, heritage, wedding, experiential and spiritual tourism, it said.
