Thane, Sep 24 Police in Maharashtra’s Thane have arrested two habitual offenders and seized 21 stolen motorcycles with a total estimated value of Rs 11.40 lakh from them, officials said on Thursday.
The accused duo was identified as Sarvar Annu Sayyed (42) and Ghazi Rafik Jafri (28), senior inspector Ajit Shinde of the crime branch unit-3 in Kalyan said.
“Both individuals are habitual criminals. While Sayyed faces 30 criminal cases across various police stations involving theft, robbery, and offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Jafri faces 37 registered cases, including charges of theft, robbery, impersonation, attack on police personnel, and offenses under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA),” he said.
Following their apprehension, intense interrogation resulted in the recovery of 21 stolen motorcycles. Out of these, 15 vehicle theft cases were registered across various police stations in Thane, Mumbai, Palghar, and Nanded, he added.
