Baripada, Sep 23 A court in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his mother over a domestic dispute in March 2025.
Second Additional District Sessions Judge Suman Kumar Mishra found the accused, Kanhu Kisku (31), guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment, government counsel Satyabrata Mohanty said.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the convict, he said.
The court pronounced its judgment after examining 16 witnesses and other documents.
The incident occurred on March 6, 2025, in Chianapada village, under the Suliapada Police Station in Mayurbhanj district.
Following a heated argument, Kanhu tried to beat his elderly mother with a wooden stick. When the old woman tried to run away, the accused pushed her onto the street, causing her to fall down and die on the spot, according to the prosecution.
After receiving a complaint from Kahnu’s brother, the police registered a murder case and arrested the convict.
