Mumbai, Sep 23 The Maharashtra government will set up 47 new Additional Tehsildar offices and four Additional Collector offices to decentralise revenue administration and make services more accessible, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Wednesday.
The decision was taken with the objective of speeding up delivery of revenue services and administrative work, particularly in rural and remote areas, according to a statement from the minister’s office.
The four new Additional Collector offices will be established at Baramati in Pune district, Pandharpur in Solapur, Dapoli in Ratnagiri, and Nagpur (Rural).
The 47 Additional Tehsildar offices will be set up in 21 districts, including six in Gadchiroli district at Malewada, Vairagad, Pendhari, Asaralli, Kasansur and Jimlagatta.
The decision takes into account the increasing workload in government offices, shortage of officers and staff, geographical distances between talukas and districts, population growth and rapid urbanisation, the statement said.
The new offices will enable citizens to access revenue services closer to their homes and are expected to facilitate faster issuance of certificates, land mutation and benefits under the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, among other services.
“Our government is committed to ensuring that people in rural and remote areas get revenue services simply and speedily. We have decided to establish 47 new Additional Tehsildar offices and four Additional Collector offices to make administration truly people-oriented,” Bawankule said.
