Thane, Sep 24 Police have detained a juvenile for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai area, officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Panvel area, following which police registered a case on September 22 based on a complaint, a police official said without giving more details.
The police subsequently launched a search for the accused and nabbed him within eight hours, he said.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Further investigation was underway, the police added.
