Hyderabad, Sep 24 A 57-year-old Sub-Inspector of Police, who was on duty for immersion of Lord Ganesha idols here, died after being hit by a two-wheeler, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred at around 3 am on Tuesday, when the SI was crossing the road and he was hit by the two-wheeler causing injuries to him. The SI, who was attached to Kothagudem Two Town police station, and went to Warangal following the accident.
He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Warangal on Wednesday evening, a police official said.
A video footage of the incident shows a two-wheeler hitting the SI while he was crossing the road and falling down on the road even as the two-wheeler fleeing.
The two-wheeler rider absconded following the accident, police said. A case was registered at Saifabad Police Station, police added.
