Gurugram, Sep 23 Four members of a family, including three children, were killed and a woman was seriously injured after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle in Nuh, police said on Wednesday.
The impact was so severe that the bodies were badly mutilated. The driver abandoned the truck and fled the spot.
Police said the accident occurred late Tuesday night near Maria Manzil School on Tauru Road in Nuh. The woman is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
An FIR was registered at City Police Station, Nuh, and police handed over the bodies to kin after a postmortem examination, they added.
According to the police, the deceased bike rider was identified as Sakir (28), a resident of Padla village. He used to teach at a madrasa, and was visiting a relative at night with his wife Nasreen (22) and their two daughters — Sidra (2) and two-month-old Fatima. His brother-in-law Kifayat’s 6-year-old daughter Ghazala was also with them on the bike.
The accident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at a nearby shop. The video shows a speeding truck hitting the bike and continuing on while dragging the rider for several metres and crushing the children under its tyres. Sakir’s wife, however, immediately fell off the bike upon the impact.
Following the accident, a crowd gathered at the spot. A police team reached the scene after receiving information and shifted the bodies to the mortuary at Medical College Nalhar. The injured woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, where her condition remains critical.
“Based on the complaint of Kifayat, an FIR was registered against the unknown truck driver. We are investigating the case, and the driver will be arrested soon”, said City Police Station SHO Ajit Singh.
