Hyderabad, Sep 22 Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday emphasized that the proposed airports at Warangal and Adilabad, besides the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi should symbolize the southern state’s rich culture.
He instructed officials to conduct a study of the architectural and sculptural styles of the famous ‘akatiya Kala Thoranam (arch) of the Kakatiya dynasty, Ramappa Temple, and Pillalamarri Temple—which embody the state’s history and culture—and to incorporate the Telangana heritage in the new constructions.
During a meeting, the officials briefed the chief minister on various logistical issues at the sites where the airports are proposed to be developed, including the shifting of power lines, diversion of streams and roads, and the relocation of BSNL lines and drinking water supply pipelines, an official release said.
CM Revanth Reddy issued several directives to the officials on the construction of roads along the airport compound walls and connecting them to nearby district, state, and national highways, it said.
He cautioned that numerous complications would arise if the departments execute the works in their purview without coordination with other wings, it said.
Reviewing the designs for the Adilabad and Warangal airports and the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi, Reddy suggested several modifications to reflect Telangana culture, sculpture, and architectural styles in the construction of the airports.
The CM, on September 19, said the dream of an airport at Warangal was taking shape, with the required land having been handed over to the Airports Authority of India.
Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy recently said a “joint use” airport would come up at Adilabad with the facility being used for defence and civilian purposes.
Kishan Reddy has said nodal officers would be appointed on behalf of the state government, Civil Aviation ministry and the Defence Ministry to expedite the establishment of the airport.
