Guwahati, Sep 22 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday extended greetings to the tea tribe community on Karam Puja and said the festival presents a vibrant glimpse into the rich folk culture of the state.
Sarma, in a social media post, said the festival conveys a message of gratitude towards nature, and prosperity and brotherhood.
Karam Puja, a sacred ritual deeply connected to the folk traditions and faith of the tea tribes, conveys a message of gratitude towards nature, and prosperity and brotherhood, the CM said.
“Adorned with the beats of the ‘dhol-madol’ (drums) and the rhythm of the ‘jhumur’, this festival presents a vibrant glimpse into our rich folk culture,” he added.
“On the sacred occasion of Karam Puja, I extend heartfelt greetings to all brothers and sisters of the tea tribe community and to all the people of Assam,” Sarma said.
Karam Puja is a traditional harvest and nature festival celebrated by the tea tribe community of Assam during the Bhado (August-September) month of the Hindu calendar. PTI DG DG ACD
