Gurugram, Sep 23 Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly bludgeoning his female live-in partner dead with various heavy blunt objects in Dharam Colony here following a quarrel, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused and his partner had been living together since 2020. On Tuesday, they had an argument over a certain issue, after which he allegedly assaulted the woman with a stick, pipe and rolling pin, killing her on the spot, they added.
On Tuesday, police received information that a woman was found injured in a rented house in Dharam Colony area. A police team rushed to the spot, where they found the woman lying in the pool of blood.
The police team shifted the woman to a hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared her dead.
Initiating investigation, police summoned forensic units to the spot, who thoroughly inspected the crime scene and collected necessary evidence, officials said.
According to the complaint filed by the owner of the house who lives in the vicinity, he had rented the accommodation to one Akash. On Tuesday, upon hearing a commotion in the street, he came outside and saw his tenant assaulting his partner.
Akash hit her on the head before fleeing the spot, leaving her severely injured.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered under the relevant sections at Palam Vihar police station.
Police arrested the accused — Akash, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly — within hours of the incident.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused works as a bus driver in Gurugram. The accused had been in a live-in relationship with the deceased since 2020. He said on Tuesday, an argument broke out between the two over some issue, following which the accused assaulted the woman with a stick, pipe and rolling pin.
“The woman sustained serious injuries, due to which she died. We have recovered the alleged murder weapons from the spot and are questioning the accused,” a senior police officer said.
