Jamshedpur, Sep 24 A group of miscreants looted cash and gold estimated to be worth around Rs 43 lakh from a nationalised bank in Jamshedpur on Thursday, a police officer said.
Five youths entered the Golmuri branch of the bank and threatened the staff members and customers at gunpoint before looting cash and gold kept as mortgage, Superintendent of Police (Rural Jamshedpur) Subham Kumar Khandelwal told PTI.
After committing the crime, the looters decamped with the booty on two motorcycles.
On being informed of the incident, Khandelwal, who is also the acting SP (City), reached the spot and began the investigation.
“We have examined the CCTV footage and gathered inputs about the looters,” the police officer said.
A manhunt was launched to track down the perpetrators, who were wearing raincoats during the crime, after alerting the neighbouring police stations, he added.
