Jodhpur, Sep 23 A major fire broke out at a chemical factory here on Wednesday evening, with at least 13 fire brigade personnel injured in an explosion during firefighting efforts.
The fire spread rapidly as drums of an inflammable chemical stored at the premises caught fire, triggering multiple explosions, police said.
Around 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot. While firefighters were trying to control the blaze, an explosion occurred in one of the chemical drums, leaving at least 13 fire brigade personnel with burn injuries.
The injured were taken to hospital.
Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed concern over the incident and wished speedy recovery for the injured.
“The incident of fire at a chemical factory in Jodhpur is extremely worrying. I have been informed that 13 brave fire brigade personnel suffered burns while trying to control the fire. I pray for their speedy recovery,” Gehlot said.
