Lucknow, Sep 23 Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Wednesday met a 15-member delegation of journalists from Tamil Nadu and briefed them on various initiatives in education, healthcare and public welfare in the state.
The delegation, led by PIB Chennai Deputy Director Vijayalakshmi, called on Patel at Jan Bhavan here, according to an official statement.
Patel said 19 state universities in Uttar Pradesh had received A, A+ or A++ grades in NAAC assessment, while seven universities had figured in NIRF and seven in QS World University rankings.
She said each state university was working with five to 10 adopted villages to strengthen development and basic infrastructure.
The governor said around 75,000 anganwadi centres had been equipped with improved facilities.
She also highlighted the HPV vaccination drive, saying more than three lakh vaccine doses had been made available in the state with support from Serum Institute of India.
On the TB elimination campaign, Patel said officials and employees of Jan Bhavan had adopted 76 TB patients as Nikshay Mitras this year. More than four lakh TB patients have been cured in the state so far, she said.
Patel also spoke about initiatives for women, children and prison inmates, including rehabilitation and education of children associated with POCSO cases.
She said programmes such as ‘AI Manthan’, ‘Pariksha Manthan’ and ‘Shiksha Manthan’ were being organised in state universities, while full implementation of the Samarth portal had improved transparency and resulted in savings of over Rs 200 crore.
