Jaipur, Sep 23 A woman was found dead on the roadside near Jaipur’s Ring Road in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.
The body of the woman, who worked as a labourer, had injury marks on her head and police suspect she may have been attacked with a heavy object.
According to police, the woman had left home on Monday for work but did not return. Her family said she used to go for daily-wage work and had been taken to a plot for cleaning and looking after plants.
The family tried contacting her on her mobile phone, but it was later found switched off. After failing to locate her, they informed police, officials said.
The body was found near bushes along the roadside.
The woman’s family has alleged that a gold ornament she was wearing was missing from the body, while silver anklets were found on her feet. They have also raised suspicion that she may have been murdered.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and collecting the woman’s call detail records and information about her last contacts.
The actual cause and circumstances of the death will be established after the investigation, police said.
