New Delhi, Sep 22 Four men wearing helmets allegedly intercepted a motorcycle-borne employee of a jewellery firm and robbed him of a bag containing 35 kg of silver worth around Rs 1 crore in northwest Delhi’s Jahangir Puri area on Tuesday, police said.
The incident took place around 2 pm near Shah Alam Bandh when Rajesh Patel, an employee of a jewellery company in the Kucha Mahajani Market, Chandni Chowk, was carrying the silver parcel on his motorcycle, they said.
According to police, four men riding two motorcycles intercepted Patel and allegedly assaulted him, before snatching the black bag containing the silver from him and fleeing the spot.
Police personnel deployed at a picket near Shah Alam Bandh noticed a quarrel in the vicinity and immediately reached the spot, officials said.
CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the accused and establish their escape route, police said.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, they added.
