Guwahati, Sep 24 Assam’s Dibrugarh district has achieved one hundred per cent institutional deliveries for two consecutive financial years now, officials said on Thursday.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), sharing the milestone in a social media post, said maternal and infant care has been strengthened across the eastern fringe district.
“A milestone for Dibrugarh: 100% institutional deliveries sustained for two consecutive financial years, strengthening safe childbirth and quality maternal care across the district,” the CMO said.
Institutional deliveries refer to the process of giving birth in a licenced healthcare facility under the supervision of professionals. This practice drastically reduces maternal and neonatal mortality by providing access to emergency obstetric care, hygienic conditions and specialised medical equipment.
