Dubai, Sep 23 An Indian national was killed in an attack on a merchant vessel off the east coast of Oman while it was transiting towards India, the Indian Embassy in Oman said on Wednesday.
The commercial vessel, MV Cape Dao, had 20 Indian seafarers on board.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one Indian national in this attack. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The Mission is coordinating with the RPSL and is in touch with the family of the deceased,” it said.
It is not yet clear who attacked the vessel.
The embassy said it was closely monitoring the attack and was in coordination with Omani authorities regarding the safety of all crew members on board, including 19 Indian nationals.
