Malappuram (Keralam), Sep 23 Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, mostly hilly and forest terrain, VB-G RAM G workers were facing difficulty in uploading their work done details due to lack of proper mobile connectivity.
Vadra said that she had already taken up the issue and written to the concerned ministry.
She further said that once she returns to Delhi, after her constituency visit gets over, she will take up the matter with the people managing the portal where the work details are to be uploaded.
She said that the workers under the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) have to upload their work done details and photographs twice a day.
“In these areas there is no proper mobile signal, sometimes the portal is not functioning and the workers do not have smart phones. So, it is very difficult for them to go through the whole complicated process twice a day,” she told reporters here.
She said that the portal does not work in remote and tribal areas not covered by mobile services.
“So, the portal system needs to be changed or altered to accommodate them (workers) as these are the people who need that job the most. So, when I go back I will take it up with the people who control the portal and explain the issue to them,” she said.
Unlike the earlier Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), where the entire cost of the scheme was borne by the Centre, under the VB-G RAM G the state will have to bear 40 per cent of the expenditure.
The Keralam Assembly had earlier this year passed a resolution demanding the Centre withdraw the latest rural employment scheme and restore the previous one.
