Sonbhadra, Sep 23 Two people, including a pickup vehicle driver, were killed after the vehicle rammed into a truck parked on the roadside on the Varanasi-Shaktinagar highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra early Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred near Chahalwa under the Sukrit police outpost of Robertsganj police station, Outpost In-charge Vishnu Prabha Singh said.
According to police, the pickup vehicle collided with the parked truck from behind. On receiving information, Sukrit police reached the spot and, with the help of locals, pulled the two occupants out of the vehicle and took them to the Community Health Centre in Madhupur, where doctors declared them dead.
The deceased were identified as Saddam (32), a resident of Katauli in the Duddhi area, and Ravindra (27), police said.
The bodies have been sent to the district hospital for postmortem, the outpost in-charge said.
