Jaipur, Sep 22 Elections for deputy mayors, deputy chairpersons and vice-chairpersons were held in 304 urban local bodies in Rajasthan on Tuesday.
According to the State Election Commission’s result sheet, the process was completed in 304 urban local bodies.
Among the municipal corporations, Hemant Sankhla was elected deputy mayor of Ajmer with 40 votes, while Ajay Kumar won the post in Alwar with 40 votes.
Ambika Saini was elected deputy mayor of Bharatpur with 49 votes, while Radheshyam Somani was elected unopposed in Bhilwara.
Pankaj Gehlot was elected deputy mayor of Bikaner with 40 votes, Mehboob won the post in Pali with 29 votes and Dinesh Chandra Bhatt was elected in Udaipur with 56 votes.
Elections for mayors, chairpersons and presidents were held in these urban local bodies on Monday, followed by elections for their deputies on Tuesday.
The state poll body on Tuesday withdrew the Model Code of Conduct with immediate effect from the municipal areas of 304 urban local bodies where the election process has been completed.
In an order issued to the chief secretary, the commission said it had announced the election programme for 309 urban local bodies in 41 districts on August 19. The election process has been completed in 304 bodies.
The election process is still underway in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota municipal corporations and Suket and Khatu Shyamji municipalities, and the Model Code of Conduct will remain in force in these five bodies until further orders, the commission said.
