Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 22 (PTI) Australia will be the guest nation at the Kerala Literature Festival to be held from January 21 to 24 at Kozhikode Beach.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister V D Satheesan here.
The official declaration was made in the presence of Transport Minister C P John, Australian Consul-General Silai Zaki, Vice Consul Katrina Knapp, KLF Chief Facilitator Ravi DC and Co-facilitator Govind DC, according to a statement.
Launched in 2016, KLF has played a major role in Kozhikode receiving the UNESCO ‘City of Literature’ status.
With Australia as the guest nation, the upcoming edition will feature a diverse delegation of writers, thinkers, academics, journalists and artists, along with cultural programmes showcasing the country.
The Australian Pavilion at the KLF venue will be a major attraction, the statement said.
The partnership with Australia is supported by the Centre for Australia-India Relations, the Australian government’s national platform for strengthening Australia-India relations.
Consul-General Silai Zaki expressed great pleasure at Australia being chosen as the guest nation for the edition of KLF, it said.
In an X post, Satheesan said KLF had grown into one of Asia’s most vibrant literary gatherings.
“Hosting Australia next year will open new conversations and deepen cultural ties between our two democracies.
“Looking forward to welcoming Australian writers and artists to Keralam,” the CM said.
