Palghar, Sep 23 (PTI) The Palghar administration in Maharashtra has distributed a collective financial assistance of Rs 30 crore to 15,000 people affected by floods in the district in July, an official said on Wednesday.
Heavy rains caused flooding between July 5 and 10 in the Vasai, Virar and Nalasopara areas of the district, causing widespread damage to homes and commercial units, Vasai tehsildar Deepak Gaikwad said in a release.
The joint survey teams from the revenue department and the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation recorded around 19,000 affected applicants. Of them, 15,000 victims with error-free documentation have received assistance of Rs 20,000 each, he said.
The remaining 4,000 applications were pending due to discrepancies in bank account numbers, names or addresses, the official said.
To address these pending payouts, an online rectification drive has been launched wherein applicants can track their status using their name, mobile number, or account details, the tehsildar said.
A verification camp has also been organised at Vasai tehsil office from September 21 to 25.
Gaikwad urged individuals whose surveys were completed to visit the camp and resolve documentation errors so their compensation can be credited without further delay.
