Imphal, Sep 23 Two men were arrested in Manipur’s Imphal West district with 2.1 kg of Yaba, a synthetic drug, in a joint operation of security forces, police said on Wednesday.
An official said a joint team of the state police and CRPF intercepted a bus passenger at Mantripukhri on Tuesday and seized 20,000 Yaba tablets, weighing approximately 2.1 kg.
Two persons — Md. Anish Khan (37) and K Nurul Haque (36) — were arrested, the official said.
Yaba, meaning ‘crazy medicine’ in Thai, contains caffeine and methamphetamine, a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
In another operation, a combined team of state police and Assam Rifles apprehended an active member of the banned People’s Liberation Army from the Lamjao Mayai Leikai area under Waikhong police station in Kakching district.
He has been identified as Maibam Gunamani, an official said.
