Faridabad, Sep 22 The chief minister flying squad team along with Tigaon police raided a workshop in Faridabad on Tuesday where vehicles were allegedly being retrofitted with bulletproofing, said police.
Four luxury vehicles including two Scorpio-N and two Fortuners were found being retrofitted with bulletproofing, they added.
According to the police, bulletproofing work on both Scorpios was already 70 per cent complete, while the process of modifying and bulletproofing the Fortuners was underway. The workshop was designed to look like an ordinary garage from the outside.
A member of the chief minister flying squad said the license to make vehicles bulletproof is issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Currently, no one in Haryana holds such a license. Typically, this license is granted only to vehicle manufacturing companies, he added.
Sources said that these vehicles might belong to political leaders and businessmen.
“We have issued a notice to the workshop operator seeking documents related to the bulletproofing of the vehicles. All the vehicles under process have no number plates and we also seek the details of the owners of the vehicle from the authority on the basis of engine and chassis numbers,” Tigaon SHO Ranbir Singh said.
