Etah (UP), Sep 23 A 32-year-old farmer died after being attacked by a stray animal that had entered his field in Etah district, police said on Wednesday.
Pushpendra Kumar, a resident of Bairni village, had gone to his field when he found stray cattle there on Tuesday evening. While attempting to drive them out, one of the animals attacked him with its horns, leaving him seriously injured.
Family members took him to a hospital in Sahpau, where doctors declared him dead, police said.
Acting on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother Malikhan Singh, police initiated proceedings. Station House Officer Akhilesh Dixit said police conducted the inquest and sent the body for postmortem.
Local revenue officials have been informed for initiating the process for compensation, he said.
