Udaipur, Sep 22 Fifty couples, including persons with disabilities, tied the knot at a mass wedding organised here, organisers said on Tuesday.
The two-day mass wedding, the 47th organised by an NGO, concluded on Sunday at its Seva Mahatirth campus in Badi.
A total of 100 brides and grooms from different states participated in the ceremony and the couples took the seven vows around the sacred fire amid Vedic chants.
Some of the participants used crutches or artificial limbs, while in several couples one partner was a person with disability, Narayan Seva Sansthan said in a release on Tuesday.
Several brides and grooms had earlier undergone treatment or surgeries or received artificial limbs, assistive devices and rehabilitation support from the Sansthan.
“Persons with disabilities need respect, opportunities and a secure future, rather than sympathy. Society should recognise their abilities and talents instead of focusing only on their disabilities,” Narayan Seva Sansthan president Prashant Agarwal said in the statement.
