Chandrababu’s “organised crime” Script
Scene 1
The moment anyone posts a video, text, or poster criticising the Chandrababu Government, the machinery swings into action to suppress it immediately.
Scene 2
TDP leaders and activists file complaints with the police against videos or posts questioning the Government.
Scene 3
Based solely on complaints from TDP activists, police register FIRs without even conducting a basic inquiry into whether the content is actually objectionable or unlawful.
Scene 4
Even when the content contains nothing abusive or illegal, notices are sent to social media platforms such as X (Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook demanding removal of videos and posts critical of the Government.
Scene 5
Social media companies then send mails to users stating that complaints have been received from authorities in India and suggest removal of the content. Soon after, users receive notices stating that the content has been withheld or removed within India.
Scene 6
Even for non-offensive posts merely questioning the Government, police allegedly target social media activists, YSRCP supporters, official YSRCP accounts, and administrators of “Jagananna Connects” by filing fabricated cases, carrying out illegal arrests, and invoking harsh legal sections.
Despite repeated reprimands from courts, the Chandrababu Government continues to repeat the same pattern, allegedly misusing institutions, the police system, and the FIR mechanism. The accusation is that false information is even being presented before courts in order to justify these actions.
Democracy under threat
Democracy in Andhra Pradesh is facing an extremely dangerous phase. The Chandrababu Government has spent the last two years systematically trampling upon one of the most fundamental constitutional rights, freedom of expression.
The message being sent, they argue, is simple:
- People should not criticise
- People should not express opinions.
- People should not raise their voices.
Is questioning the govt, a biggest crime?
In Andhra Pradesh today, speaking freely has become a “bigger crime” than murders, robberies, thefts, or fraud. Anyone questioning Chandrababu’s governance or opposing anti-people decisions is allegedly branded as an extremist or treated like a criminal. Citizens expressing dissent are being portrayed as threats to the State.
One rule for TDP, another for critics?
TDP leaders, affiliated media houses, and social media activists enjoy complete freedom to abuse, insult, and attack opponents without consequence. At the same time, even democratic criticism against Chandrababu or coalition leaders results in arrests, harassment, fabricated cases, and imprisonment.
The Fight will continue
YSRCP stated that despite continuous cases, arrests, and harassment, it would continue to fight legally and politically, asserting that those who believe in “Satyameva Jayate” cannot be silenced.
False Cases and Illegal Arrests
According to the statement, the Government has now moved beyond arrests and has started pressuring social media companies directly to suspend or block accounts exposing corruption, anti-people decisions, or governance failures. The allegation is that police officers are increasingly being used as political instruments rather than neutral protectors of law and order.
Police acting like Political agents
The statement accuses certain police officials of acting not as protectors of the Constitution, but as political agents of Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP. Police are directly sending notices to platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube demanding removal of anti-government content or suspension of accounts.
Bypassing Legal Procedure
YSRCP argued that if anyone genuinely believes a post is defamatory or unlawful, the proper legal course is to approach the courts. Instead, the Government is accused of bypassing due process and pressuring platforms directly without judicial scrutiny. The allegation is that the Government itself understands these posts are legally protected speech, but fears the political impact of the criticism
Constitutional Violations
The statement questions whether crushing dissent, suppressing speech, and silencing citizens through police pressure amounts to a direct violation of constitutional rights and democratic freedoms.
“All complaints are False”
YSRCP claims that the complaints sent to social media companies contain no actual evidence of misinformation, incitement, or harm to society. Instead, the targeted posts allegedly expose corruption, policy failures, or governance issues. The party asked why police machinery meant to protect citizens is being used to silence critics.
“Jagananna Connects” case
False accusations were fabricated against the YSRCP-linked “Jagananna Connects” social media account by linking it to unrelated posts made somewhere in North India against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. YSRCP claimed this was done solely to justify attempts to suspend or target the account.
“No one Should question Corruption?”
The government wants a system where nobody questions corruption, anti-people decisions, or failures in governance. Chandrababu Naidu adopting authoritarian methods and compares the current atmosphere to a police state
Is Freedom of Expression reserved only for the “Yellow Gang”?
YSRCP questioned whether freedom of expression applies only to Chandrababu Naidu, TDP supporters, yellow media organisations, and pro-government social media activists. The statement points out that Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech to every citizen equally, not selectively.
“YSR won without Social Media”
YSRCP noted that Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy won historic victories in 2004 and 2009 even before social media existed, and that in 2019, despite most media allegedly supporting Chandrababu Naidu, YSRCP still won overwhelmingly. The party claimed that unlike TDP, it does not depend on media manipulation for survival.
Consequences will be severe
The statement warned that continued misuse of police powers against journalists, social media activists, and dissenting voices would damage Andhra Pradesh’s democratic reputation internationally. It alleged that such authoritarian behaviour could push society toward instability and institutional breakdown.
“Power does not give unlimited authority”
Chandrababu Naidu is using State power arrogantly to silence opponents and plant “poisonous seeds” against democracy. The statement described these actions as organised constitutional violations.
Warning against mass arrests during court vacation
The government may attempt large-scale arrests during the High Court summer vacation period, when courts function in a limited manner. YSRCP warned that any such attempt would trigger a strong political and public response.
