Hyderabad, Aug 3 : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday sent a communication to Lok Bhavan to drop his Cabinet colleague, Konda Surekha from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect.
The Chief Minister has also decided to rescind the appointment of Dr. G. Chinna Reddy as Vice Chairman, Telangana Planning Board with immediate effect, a press release from the CMO said.
Surekha, the state Forest and Endowments Minister, has been in the eye of a storm following critical remarks made by her daughter against the Chief Minister and other party leaders, drawing sharp responses from ruling party MLAs and functionaries.
The decision to sack Surekha came after the disciplinary committee of the state Congress recommended that the party leadership take stringent action against her.
Later, speaking to reporters, the ousted minister said she was not given an opportunity to present her version before being sacked. She further alleged that while the Congress party’s senior leadership was opposed to her removal, the Chief Minister was hell-bent on dropping her from the Cabinet.
