- Massive YSRCP demonstrations held across Mandal headquarters
- Copies of Chandrababu’s signed bonds and newspaper advertisements set ablaze
- Slogans raised condemning government failures
- Farmers, women, students, and various sections of society participate in large numbers
Responding to the call given by YSRCP President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, massive protests and demonstrations were held across Mandal headquarters throughout Andhra Pradesh on Thursday against what the party described as Chandrababu Naidu’s two years of betrayal and broken promises. YSRCP leaders, cadre, and people from various sections of society participated in large numbers, raising slogans against the government’s failures and demanding accountability.
During the previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government, a total of ₹4,58,360.49 crore was delivered to poor and middle-class families through DBT and non-DBT welfare programmes over five years. Flagship initiatives such as Amma Vodi, Vidya Deevena, Vasathi Deevena, Rythu Bharosa, free crop insurance, zero-interest loans for farmers and DWCRA women, Cheyutha, Kapu Nestham, Law Nestham, Nadu-Nedu in government schools, English-medium education, TOEFL and IB programmes, Gorumudda, expansion of Aarogyasri, establishment of 17 Government Medical Colleges, Super Speciality Hospitals, Family Doctor services, and 108/104 healthcare services were implemented effectively. The Village and Ward Secretariat system was established to bring governance to people’s doorsteps and realise the vision of grassroots self-governance.
YSRCP leaders stated that during the last two years, the Chandrababu Naidu government has systematically weakened or dismantled these programmes. At the same time, the much-publicised Super Six promises made before the elections have remained largely unfulfilled, turning what was projected as a flagship welfare agenda into what protesters described as a “Super Flop.”
The protests also condemned the government’s use of the so-called Red Book governance, under which YSRCP leaders, journalists, and social media activists questioning government failures are being targeted with false cases, illegal arrests, and political harassment. Protesters alleged that while some ruling-party legislators are engaged in collecting commissions and intimidating industrialists, others are facing allegations of misconduct towards women. They also expressed concern over the deteriorating safety of women and children, attacks on freedom of expression, and the failure to protect temples, religious properties, and sacred Hindu institutions, citing repeated incidents and controversies at major pilgrimage centres, including Tirumala.
As part of the demonstrations, protesters publicly burnt copies of the Super Six bonds, election assurances, and newspaper advertisements carrying the signatures and promises of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, accusing the coalition government of betraying the trust of the people and failing to deliver on its commitments.
