There is a particular kind of political audacity that does not merely bend the truth; it inverts it entirely. It takes a man’s most documented act of resistance and recasts it as absence, silence, and indifference. It stands before a legislature, speaks with the authority of the Chief Minister’s chair, and counts on the audience not checking.

That is precisely what unfolded inside the Andhra Pradesh Assembly during the adoption of a resolution on Amaravati, when Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu trained his attack on former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of being absent during the parliamentary debates on Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation. That is a baseless accusation which is factually, photographically, and parliamentarily wrong.

In the Well of Parliament, Placard in Hand

The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 the legislation that divided a state and broke millions of people’s sense of belonging, moved through Parliament across eight of the most turbulent days in the institution’s recent memory.

In the midst of that upheaval stood Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy garu who was not absent, not silent, not indifferent. He was visible, vocal, and central to the resistance.

As leader of the YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy garu, along with fellow MPs, stormed into the well of the Lok Sabha, raising slogans of “Jai Samaikyandhra.” He held placards opposing the bifurcation alongside Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, challenged the process through a no-confidence notice to the Speaker, and sought an adjournment motion against the division of the state.

This is not a partisan recollection but a documented fact with placards in hand. in the well of Parliament. Captured in photographs carried by every major Telugu and national newspaper on February 13, 2014. The parliamentary record of the adjournment motions filed and the no-confidence notice to the Speaker is on record.
